The
accident at the Chernobyl NPP on 26 April 1986 is the greatest
technogenic catastrophe of a world scale in the 20th
century. Investigation of its consequences is of an interdisciplinary
character and deals with interests of scientists, physicians,
politicians, decision-makers, etc. Department of Scientific Information
and Informatics has created the interdisciplinary information bank
“Post-Chernobyl Effects in Belarus, Russia and the Ukraine” as a base
of two projects: 1) Interdisciplinary Information Database “CHEDIBASE”
and 2) Interdisciplinary Bulletin of Chernobyl Information “Chernobyl
Digest”.
Chernobyl Digest’98-2000. Issue 6. – Minsk, 2001:
"Ukrainian scientists have proceeded extensive
investigations of 137Cs- and 90Sr
transfer from drug raw material into alcoholic preparations (Yu. Gubin,
O. Dzyubak,
S.
Dzyubak,
et al., 1999; Orlov, Krasnov, Prishchepa et al.,
2000). In particular, this group of researches has proved that for all
the types of medicinal raw material the degree of 137Cs
extraction into drug form depends on alcohol concentration in solvent.
It was concluded that there is the possibility of
working out pharmacologic technologies at which the transfer of useful
active substances into preparations remains acceptable and that of
radionuclides — drops sharply".
"Ukrainian scientists (Yu. Gubin, O. Dzyubak, S. Dzyubak, et al., 1999) have also pointed to the necessity for working out state standards for the technogenous radionuclide content in prepared pharmacologic drugs ".
